Work work work work work work

Kun iltapäivä alkaa käydä pitkälle, joukko valkealalaisia nuoria tallustaa kohti Voikkaan tehdasaluetta. He jakavat työt ja asettuvat pitkän pöydän ääreen, kuin joulupukin pajaan. "Sinä kasaat ja minä paketoin. Hän leikkaa nippusiteitä ja te siellä pakkaatte laatikoihin." Me Valkealan nuoret kävimme muutamia kertoja Voikkaan tehdasalueella kasaamassa ja pakkaamassa virvelikomboja Daiwa Oy:n leivissä. Vaikka työt täytyikin hoitaa koulun jälkeen, oli meillä aina yhtä hauskaa työskennellä porukassa. Kuuntelimme musiikkia, heilutimme lannetta ja vielä samaan aikaan kasasimme virveleitä. Ei huono. Aherruksen varrella sattui välillä ilmaantumaan muutama todella hyvä kehitysidea. Kuten virvelikombojen taustapahveissa voisi olla kalastajien tilalla paidattomia miehiä. Näin ostajat lisääntyisivät (ainakin meidän tyttöjen mielestä...). Välillä kun työn teko alkoi tosiaan väsyttämään, saatoimme pitää piknikin sen kaiken roinan ja romppeen keskellä. Tuntuu ihan siltä että viimeistään nyt olemme kaikki oppineet minkälaista oikea työn teko on: raskasta, mutta se voi myös olla hauskaa.



When the day goes by, a group of youngsters make their way to Voikkaa's mill-area. They share their tasks and settle down around a long table, just like in the Santa's workshop. "You put these together, I wrap. They cut the cable ties and you pack the finished spinning rods into the boxes."

Daiwa Oy gave our group an opportunity to make some money for our exchange, so a couple of times we gathered together and went to pack spinning rods. Even tho we did this after long days at school, we had a blast working together, every single time. We listened to music, danced and put together spinning rods. Not a bad combo at all.

During the hard work we came up with a few really good ideas for developing the business. For example the background cardboard fisher pictures could be replaced by shirtless men. This would increase the amount of buyers (at least we girls think so...). Sometimes when the work started to exhaust us, we had a nice little picnic in the middle of the junk. It feels like now all of us have understood the meaning of real work: it's hard but it also can be fun.
